About Hardwater Books

Links
Hardwater Books was started because of my enjoyment of canoeing and the images that are displayed here. The paintings open a window to the past that is no longer around. People and activities of those times can no longer be seen except through the artist renderings and the authors ramblings. Photography was not available while the development of the fur trades and our continent was going on and so the artist and the author are the only means to let us view that world. Now photography also allows us to see places and activities that are outside of our daily experience.

Both the written and the drawn descriptions have allowed me to learn about what others have experienced and now technology has allowed me to share this with others in ways never dreamed of by the people of those times.

I am a builder by trade and I am usually building environments for my customers that make their lives more enjoyable. Hardwater Books has been my "non-dust venture" that is easier on my back than all of the building materials I usually push around, and alot of fun to do. I hope that what I have presented here can, in some way, make your life and surroundings more enjoyable.

My wife Susan and our daughter Abby have put up with my interests in the canoeing world. Those interests have introduced us to many wonderful and fascinating people and places. It has been our excuse to travel around the US and Canada.

I hope this electronic site can make some connections for those of you who visit, and maybe we’ll be able to meet sometime.
