FRED MAC MURRAY:
MOVIE STAR, FAMILY MAN
and
AMERICA'S FAVORITE DAD
Fred MacMurray is known to this generation as the beloved father of the television series MY THREE SONS. Fred MacMurray as widower Steve Douglas raised his three sons with the help of their maternal grandfather Bub (William Frawley). At the end of its twelve year run, MY THREE SONS would be the second longest running situation comedy , second only to THE ADVENTURES of OZZIE and HARRIET.
But to a previous generation, he will be remembered as one of the Silver Screen's greatest leading men having starred in more movies than any other star except John Wayne and Gary Cooper. So popular as a movie star in Hollywood, he co-starred with more of the industry's Golden Era leading ladies than any other actor.
This website explores his early beginnings, movie career, tv success and homelife. Fred MacMurray described himself as just a "Lucky Guy." His life reads much like a movie script. In the future, I intend to add pages on June Haver's life and career, Fred MacMurray's early movie extra work, vaudeville and Broadway careers. And finally a page relating some of the unknown touching and humorous anecdotes surrounding his life and career. The site originates from Fred MacMurray's hometown of Beaver Dam, WI. I hope you enjoy it and please feel free to email me with comments at RNOLL@powercom.net.
