Pearson Enduro
4-29-07
Well the first race of the 2007 season is
in the books and MAN am I SORE! The Ruff-Enuff Enduro put on by the Madison
Motorcycle Club was a GREAT event. I arrived Saturday afternoon. Too late to
help with the kids race, but I heard that all the kids had a great time and
they all left with a trophy and a ice cream bar. Look for this event to grow
next year! Here is a link to pictures from the kids race:

After setting up camp, I headed to the Wolf's Den for sign up. I was lucky
enough to sign up with fast guy Heath "GUS" Drone, Bobby Kau Jr. (aka:
Jerry Stanley Jr.) and one of Bobby's friends (sorry, forgot his name). Both
Bobby and his friend were riding their first enduro. After some pre-race
carb loading (for the other guys), it was back to the start area for lies
around the campfire. Sunday morning arrived warm and sunny. As the
forecast called for highs in the 80's, the Moose Sahara gear was my choice
for the day. Over 70 riders signed up for the race and we were on minute 28
(of 30), so the trail looked to be in great shape for us. The typical
Pearson rocks didn't melt over the winter, but the trail was great. I rode
fairly well with Gus dropping 2 less points than me at the B/C cutoff (Gus 1,
Me 3). I kept Gus in sight for the first part of the A only section, only to
have a few small get offs due to my lack of training/riding (I WAS DOG
TIRED). At that point, I decided that it was a beautiful day for a trail
ride as I was in survival mode for the last 5 miles. J.D. Friebel got the
overall with a score of 0, while Ryan Moss got overall A with a 1. Gus was
2nd in 250A with a 5 while I was 3rd in 250A with a 9. As for Bobby, he got
Overall C with a score of 5 (it would have been good enough for 2nd Overall
in the B class and he would have won 250B by 12 points! Look to Bobby to be
the next up and coming fast guy. I hope he sticks with it!

Minute 28 and IL fast guy Scott Hoffman on the far right. (Note that I'm the only one w/o a
trophy...HA HA)
